It's Hot In Here!!!
I've been housesitting for a friend the past 5 days and the day I got there the A/C went out! What's with me and my lack of A/C love? On Saturday I was able to get a guy to come out and look at it (this was actually the second person, the first guy wanted to put in a whole new unit). So he confirmed that is was the motor and gave a decent price to fix it. The catch, he wouldn't be back until Tuesday (at least the other guy would do it the next day). So, I spent the days at my place and nights there, trying to give some love to an over active big puppy who eats everything and breaths louder than Frisco ever did. The night of the 4th was unbearable - 95 at 11:00 pm - this is inside the house. There were no fans, so I brought over a small one I use in my room. Monday night it felt more like a blow dryer on hot. Even in India there was an occasional fresh breeze from outside that I could catch.
Side note: Can someone please explain to me why dry heat is better - because I'm definitely not feeling it lately.
Okay. So, back to last night...it was cooler in the back yard (which doesn't have a manicured lawn, but instead gravel). I needed a cot or something to lay on. After stopping at two different Wal-Marts (one was closed for the 4th), I found one. I set it up, grabbed some sheets and got all situated. Immediately a roach landed on me! Why Lord? I swatted it off (I can't take the crunching sound of killing them) and it soon returned, this time managing to slip under the sheet, in bed with me. I really couldn't endure a night like this. Having had little sleep and no other options (it really was unbearable inside) I bucked up and went to sleep. But my friend Benito, the dog, was a little reluctant to allow me fall into dreamland. All night he either tried sharing his rawhide with me (which ended up in the house) or laying half his Australian Shepherd body on me, licking my face. Remember, it's too hot to put him inside and besides, he'd destroy something just like he had every other night!
I just had a phone call from Rick, the A/C guy - it's fixed. Thank you Jesus - now I'm going home.
Peace.
