More Flashing Lights & Sirens
Friends threw a shared birthday party for myself and another gal tonight (great time!), but that's not what this blog is about. I was driving home with the other birthday girl, it was about midnight, when I saw/heard a police car turn down a street a few blocks ahead of where I was. My first thought was, I hope that's not going to my street. How sad that those thoughts would even cross my mind, but the fire last night really freaked me out. So, I dropped Marleen off, circled around (we live in a neighborhood filled with one-way streets) and as I approached my block, I was thinking if it was even remotely possible that there would be a parking spot in front of my house at this hour. Then I noticed, straight ahead, there was a cop car with lights going. But it seemed like there were flashing lights from further down too. I went ahead and took the first available spot and took off on foot to my house. Sure enough, there were about 6 police cars, all lined up down the street, one parked up on the curb in front of my house. One of my neighbors was just coming out so I asked her, "Now what?" She wasn't sure what was going on, but apparently, the house they were at houses the cousins of the family whose house was on fire. Wow, what the heck is going on? After about 10 minutes some of the cruisers left and I decided I needed to come on in and get to bed. But only after blogging.
