Water, the Essence of Life

When you live in a dry (yet humid), dusty place, was is so important. And I'm not even referring to clean, running water - just running water. It's interesting how much one can give up and then there's the breaking point...granted, I'm not at that point, I'm still seeing the humor in it (or the lack of it).

Two nights ago I'd planned on taking my shower before bed. No real need to explain, it had been another hot and sweaty day. Besides, it sure seeds up my morning routine when all that has been taken care of. :) But there was not water...in fact, I'd managed to wash my dinner dishes but couldn't rinse them. I didn't worry too much about it, thinking I could do it in the morning. [Side Note: Are thinking and assuming the same thing? Then why does one sound more noble?] Still no water in the A.M. My landlord's daughter threw on a switch, filled the tank & I finished the dishes, but I didn't have time to shower until the afternoon - when the water again ran out. Luckily I sensed what was happening and conserved even more water so I could get a good rinse. When I came home last night I was debating whether another shower was necessary, but when the water ran out while washing clothes, I "realized" I hadn't really sweated enough since my afternoon cleaning to necessitate it. But we did flip the switch again and filled the tank so my wash could resume (this is why you buy an automatic washing machine - it stops where it is until the water or power is rectified and resumes where it stopped). By morning the tank was empty again - I couldn't flush my toilet. I'm still smiling.
